What's at Stake for Our Schools
Governor
Two years of Jan Brewer has been enough for Arizona. She failed to stand up to the legislature and signed budgets with over a $1 billion dollars of cuts to public schools while making it easier to divert even more tax dollars to private schools. Our state still faces a $1 billion budget deficit and she has promised to cut more from our schools to balance it. Brewer also signed bills that attack the basic rights of teachers. Terry Goddard offers a new direction for our schools. Terry Goddard will stand up the legislature and use the power of the veto to stop attacks on school employees and school funding. He will support public schools and school employees by restoring funding for full day kindergarten and expanding career ladder funding to all school districts. Compare these two candidates.
Superintendent of Public Instruction
John Huppehthal has spent years diverting our tax dollars to fund private schools and fighting against full day kindergarten. Now he wants to become the Superintendent of Public Instruction. We need to defeat him and elect Penny Kotterman a life-long teacher, not a politician.
Legislators, School Board Members, Bonds, and Overrides
All across the state voters will make choices when they cast their ballot. Bonds and overrides will determine the number of student in classes and the resources available to our local schools. School board members will determine how their administration deals with employees and school budgets. Legislators will determine how our state's budget will be balanced.
